Hi all,

I came across an add for this wine pourer that filters and aerates and even helps with drips on the table cloth...
sounds almost too good to be true, anyone here use it and willing to share comments to help me decide if I should get this.
I guess using it on wine is one thing and VP is another... so please comment which one.
Also comment on how to clean it.

In the brochure you can see a diagram that reveals some of the details.

I have this, although it doesn't go by the name Nuance on the box it came in. My wife gave it to me as a gift. I don't use it on wines that don't need filtration, but I do use it on unfiltered LBVs and younger VPs. I didn't really think of it as an aerator before, nor do I really use the stopper because I'm always pouring the entire bottle into a decanter. I guess I do hear some bubbling at the beginning of the pour, so that is happening for a while. I find this nice and effective for the above mentioned wines, in particular when I haven't stood the bottle up well in advance to settle the sediment to the bottom. For something like a 1985 Graham's and bottles from the 1970s or earlier, I have found that this doesn't work because there is too much sediment and it gets clogged. Maybe if I stood those bottles up earlier it would work. I just backflush with water immediately after use to clean and for now that has been sufficient. I have brewery cleaning chemicals to use if I ever need to, but I haven't felt the need.

Thanks Eric,

you confirmed what I suspected:
1) VP sediment is whole other story
2) using it to pour into a decanter could be a way to get the best of both
3) should be fine for table wines poured into glass.

cheers
