2002 Quinta da Revolta LBV Port

Post by Glenn E. »

from after the 2010 Port Harvest Tour
tasted at Vinologia with 2 couples from Ontario

2002 Quinta da Revolta LBV Port
bottled 2007

Round, sweet, and just tannic enough to give it good balance. Paired okay with the ginger-soaked plum. Wasn't able to finish the glass as Vinologia was closing at midnight. 90 points.

Like the Eufemia 10 Year Old, that score seems low based on what I remember of the Port, but I'll let it stand in case it's my memory that's off. I came away thinking it was really good and wishing I'd had time to finish the glass.

Ginger-soaked plum? Can you elaborate on this? I like ginger a lot, and this sounds like a good Port-pairing dessert.

Unfortunately I don't know much more about it. Jean-Philippe served small bites to pair with each of the Ports we tasted at Vinologia, and this one was a ginger-soaked plum. It appeared that each bite had been soaked in some sort of liquor, but I can't begin to guess what a ginger liquor might be. It's also entirely possible that the ginger wasn't a liquor but just something he'd prepared for this purpose.

Maybe Goncalo or Gustavo might know?
