2005 Quinta de Ventozelo LBV Port

Modern (Filtered), Bottled in 2010.
I opened this 3 days ago and have almost finished it. Since it's a filtered style of LBV I didn't decant it. It's definitely better now than when I first opened it - took a day or so for the alcohol to integrate. It's a dark purple/burgundy color but not opaque. The nose is pleasant but rather primary - grape jelly / raspberry with maybe a little chocolate. The palate starts off with juicy, sweet, dark fruit, tasty but straight-forward and then takes on some pepper on the midpalate. The finish was slightly hot and tannic on the first night but at this point it's evened out nicely and the fruit seems to have taken on a bit more length. An enjoyable LBV though somewhat simple. 86pts, Tasted 1/11
