A new one for me ...

2008 Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Referencia Grande Reserva - 2,500 bottles produced, 1/10th the production of QdNNacional. Wow. Very rich and red fruited, w/ exc. structure and a long finish. I have one more glass to consume, shared the bottle w/ my wife during dinner, with a small glass before hand to start the TN. So far, very impressive as are the majority of 2008 Douro reds I've had.

I tasted a huge range of wines and Port from them last year and overall I was very impressed with what they are making in all ranges. This is a house to keep an eye on as I'm sure it will be a major player in the Douro wine field in the near future.

And they have a wonderful little hotel on the property that I recommend if you're looking for a place to stay in the Douro.

Yeah, they been anxiously awaiting us to bring one of our groups there. They've been on touch with that, before we even visited their cork plant and what a fiasco that was. Anyway, this is a fine wine and should flesh out really well in years to come. Great balance early on.

Great property but it's a bit tough to get to as I'm sure you know. But that also lends itself to being such a peaceful and scenic property. A place I would recommend to anyone staying in the Douro.
