For The Love Of Port

Bottled 2010. Not decanted. Light brown with a touch of red. Aroma of nuts, figs and other undefined fruits. Very little spirit in the aroma. Full body, smooth, slightly on the sweet side. Long aftertaste. A very nice 20 year old tawny. 94 pts.

I knew you'd like this 20 year old as Burmester gets wood-aged Port. I look forward to your notes on the Colheitas, whenever you get to them. That '63 is killer!

The Burmester 20 yrs was actually tested together with a Noval 20 yrs, and the Burmester came out better. Emmy considered them to be more equal, but as I am the FTLOP-member and not her, I took the opportunity to report my scores! However, in general we are very often well coordinated when tasting ports and table wines.

Reason for buying the 1963 Burmester Colheita was actually the experience at Sogevinus during the FTLOP Harvest Tour Oct 2010. We both gave the 1963 Burmester the highest score, but ended up buying 1957 Kopke Colheita at that time. When we now got the opportunity to buy older Burmesters, then we quickly decided to go for 3 btls 1963 Burmester Colheita.
