American Crossword Puzzle Tournament Dow Vertical
New York City
March 19, 2011
My wife participates in the ACPT every year, and conveniently there is a lively Port tasting group in New York City. So every year we plan a Port tasting to coincide with the tournament, and this was the 2011 edition.
1963 Dow Vintage Port
Color: Medium light red and orange. Lightest on the night by a small margin over the 1960.
Nose: Good red fruits. Rich. Possibly some blueberry? But that seemingly makes no sense.
Palate: Smooth and warm. Not quite hot, but getting there. Dryish but not overtly so. Seems older than the 1960.
Finish: Similar to the 1960 right down to the bitter kick.
Score: 91 points. A bit better than the 1960, but not a lot better.
