1948 Fonseca Vintage Port

A rich, complex, and full nose full of meat, dried rose pedals, and old mahogany. A bit deceiving on first sip as it was a little soft, a recuring theme on almost all the other Fonseca's that came later. That quickly changed as this expanded exponentially on the palate. There was still some bright cherries along mixed in with spices, marzipan, and sweetness that tied it all together. This was amazingly complex and still so youthful for it's age. The finish seemed to never end and it's length eclipsed any other Port we had in the line up that night. This is truly one of the greatest Vintage Ports ever made.
