Decanted 11 hours. Some V.A. on the nose and a touch of spirit showing on a soft nose. A light pale ruby color. The palate had some spirit, cinnamon, soft flowers and was teetering on the tawny side. Slightly syrupy on a long elegant finish. If this bottle is representative, this is at the apex of it's drinking window and should hold for another 5 or so years.

Re: 1977 Niepoort Vintage Port
I've heard from Sean that he's had very youthful and bright/dark ruby bottles of this Port which seemed odd after enjoying this rather mature version. I look forward to trying this again from a different set to see if there's really much difference, although he usually knows what he's talking about.
I liked this '77 quite a bit and it is a rare bottling as I don't know many people who own '77 Niepoort VP.

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com
