1985 Burmester Vintage Port

Decanted five hours, cork broke half way and had to be pushed into the bottle, bottle was rinsed well to remove the sediment and the port was poured back in with no problems. Light red/pink color throughout with an amber edge, very clean mulberry, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon nose (previously tasted in 2005 when it had a too strong molasses character not repeated here), clean flavors of blackberries, cinnamon, currants, plums, excellent body and integration, originally a little too alcoholic but that integrated as the night went on and the level in the bottle dropped, excellent structure for another 10 to 12 years, sadly, my last one. Rated at 91 points. Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the note on this vintage of Burmester, as it's not what I'd consider a main-stream VP and notes on it tend to be few and far between at times.

I agree with Andy. I've seen much more of the 1985 Burmester Colheita than their VP from that year. Thanks for the note, Jim! [cheers.gif]
