NV Quinta do Noval Black Port

No formal notes taken, but this was thoroughly enjoyed over about 4 days. A dark purple port with a nose of ripe dark berries and plums. Lots of ripe fruit on the palate as well - full-bodied, sweet and luscious with fresh acidity that offsets the sweetness. A hedonistic and well balanced ruby that I could easily drink all night. 89 pts, Tasted 1/12

Glad you liked it. This is a really good QPR and IMO Noval did a good thing by phasing out their old LB and replacing it with this.

Andy, I agree. I had the LB some years back and wasn't that impressed with it. My score here is maybe a little inflated because it's such a good QPR but the Black is just delicious stuff.

I don't think your score is inflated at all. I've rarely seen scores below 90 for that Port from most of the palates I trust.

There is now a poll and thread about the comparison between Graham's Six Grapes and this particular Port, in the Port forum area.
