Decant: 1 hour - A bottle bought at auction and catalogued as Cockburn 1908, but there was no identification on either capsule or cork. Unfortunately the bottle was knocked over and shattered, with only one glassful being mopped up off the floor.
Butterscotch in colour, with a green hint on the rim; slightly cloudy and 10% opaque. Dusty nose, fresh daisies. Cumin spice on the tongue, lots of leather and pine; sweetness comes late on the palate as a light brown suger. Very spicy and fiery aftertaste and a lively, lengthy finish. I wonder what this would have tasted like if it hadn't been mopped up off the floor? 85 points
