1957 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port

Decant: 6 hours - Mid red and burnt ochre in tone with and orange-pink rim; 20% opaque. Beautiful nose of lively cherry, swirling livens up the bouquet with some moist tobacco - a gorgeous nose. Medium bodied, a little slow to develop on the palate but dusty cherry eventually builds up in volume to reach very impressive levels. Air makes the wine much bigger. Swallowing releases a burst of gentle heat before a long finish of sweet licorice. Big flavours; very sweet but with a great twist of citrus zest. 85 points
