2001 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port

Decant: 7 days - Gentle red colour, opaque at the centre but with a clear rim. Faint blackcurrant nose, perhaps a little damp earth. Dry impact, before the dry and ripe fruit comes through. The tannins are soft and chalky. The structure is balanced and the fruit has great prominence across the palate. Bramble aftertaste, followed by a long, lavendar and milk chocolate finish of terrific length. Very floral. A delightful and fragrant wine. 89 points
