Decant: 30 minutes - Vintage unknown, but believed to be older than 1895. Dark brown, the colour of maple syrup; 95% opaque. VA leaps out of the glass and dominates the initial impact on the nose. Very thick texture, with searing acidity that cuts through the sweetness. Very concentrated flavours, predominantly sweet dried dates; slightly petrolly. Acidity makes the eyes water, then leaves a short finish of brown sugar. NR points
