Decant: 2½ hours - Bottled 1964. The second of three bottles of this wine, this being the first bottle which was labelled. The label read "Noval 1961 Crusted Port" and then the small text on the label read "This unblended wine, produced at the famous Quinta do Noval and bottled in 1964, should be carefully decanted before serving." The cork was branded "Noval 1961 vintage".

50% opaque; deep orange in colour with a paling rim. Plasticizer on the nose initially, but this blew off in the glass over time to allow a strong, concentrated orange liquer smell to dominate. Sweet entry; witha huge flavour profile of over-ripe oranges and concentrated sweetness balanced by a strong acidity and a hidden but supportive bitterness. The aftertaste was sweet, orange and led to a long and gently peppery finish of great length. Very nice port. 89 points
