1927 Sandeman Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 3 hours - From a half bottle purchased through ebay from Alfreton Antiques of Alfreton, Derbyshire in 2005.

Deep orange in colour, with a centre the colour of burnt sienna; 40% opaque. Rosemary on the nose, with fresh roses and sage. Light bodied, sweet but balanced entry. Bitter rose hips at the core but with an offsetting muscvado sugar and caramel. The bitter tone never quite goes and almost turns into a burnt, blackened sugar flavour. Lovely aftertaste, full of golden syrup and intense marmalade before leaving the impression of a wonderful coffee. Delightful wine. 89 points
