  • NV Sandeman Porto 30 Year Old Tawny - Portugal, Douro, Porto (1/27/2012)
Spicer and more layered than the 10 and 20 Tawny. The molasses tone is a bit lighter and more elegant, oranges, with some wet nickel, hazelnut and lithe florals. Great stuff. (92 pts.)
  • NV Sandeman Porto 20 Year Old Tawny - Portugal, Douro, Porto (1/27/2012)
Nice cinnamon and subtle chocolate notes on the nose. The palate is complex with layers of molasses, hazelnut and dark fruit. Again, this was far more delicate and nuanced than I was expecting. Very nice! (91 pts.)
  • NV Sandeman Porto 10 Year Old Tawny - Portugal, Douro, Porto (1/27/2012)
Thought the molasses and nut tones were very nice on the nose. The palate had nice floral notes, sweet cherry, blackberries and molasses. Being a neophyte to Port, I was impressed by how delicate this seemed...I was expecting something far more unforgiving. (88 pts.)

Hi Matt,

Nice lineup of Tawny Ports. I very much like what Sandeman does with their full range and the 40 is amazing, but the 30 is pretty stellar too. I have a bunch of 30 year old Tawny tasting notes in the upcoming newsletter that hits on Wed.

Thanks for posting these impressions. Your 20 year old bottling mirrors my own feelings about this one.

Hi Matt,

First let me say [welcome.gif] to the Forum. Glad you enjoyed these Ports, Sandeman makes some very fine Tawny's with an indication of age as you found out. I love the 20 year old, which reminds me it's been a while since I last had it...must go grab a bottle soon.
