1977 Gould Campbell Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (6/8/2012)
This was decanted for 7 hours. As soon as I opened this bottle, I knew I was in for something special. The nose just exploded with lovely, fresh purple fruits and an intoxicating floral note. The color barely displayed any hint of evolution, a strawberry/ruby rim with a solid dark purple/red center. The palate was fresh, forceful and invigorating, with noticable, but well integrated tannins. Blackberry, plums, fruitcake and figs. Again, very fresh and young on the palate. A spectacular showing for a wine that obviously has plenty of life left in it. (95 points)
