Still quite dark with a nose of sweet lavender, spices, and licorice. Old wood combined with red fruit, cola, and cedar box. Searing acidity shows up on the finish. Sadly this is slightly marred by volatile acidity (which Dirk said started with this vintage and carried on through the late 90's). Still tasty, but you have to accept the VA in it.
