1992 Vinhos Oscar Quevedo Porto Colheita Douro - Portugal, Douro (8/19/2012)
-- popped and poured --
-- tasted non-blind over a couple hours --
-- bottled in 2009 --

NOSE: red licorice rope; moderate oak; hint of Krazy Glue, which turns into something more tawny with aeration.

BODY: looks like a cherry lambic beer with slight browning at the edges; full bodied.

TASTE: youthful; tasty; dates; figs; plums; raisins; 19.5% alc. well-hidden; low acid; soft; not mind-blowing, but good, and significantly better than tasting room taste I previously noted on.

B: 50, 5, 11, 16, 7 = (89 pts.)

Brian,
Glad you were able to try their Ports again. I hope this time around you had a better experience.

Me too, Andy. Oscar went above and beyond the call of duty in sending my wife and I this bottle (and the two others, too) so that we could try them again. I still haven't opened the 20 yr. Tawny, but the bottles of '07 VP and this '92 Colheita that Oscar sent us both provided very pleasurable experiences, and have changed my mind about the quality of Quevedo wines; I plan on buying these in the future, and will therefore seek them out during future visits to wine stores. Great to hear. Oscar is a great guy and he and his family make some fantastic juice!
