- 1963 Graham Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (11/19/2012)
This bottle had no label but had a sand-colored hard wax capsule branded "Graham's 1963". The cork was correctly branded as well. I've had this bottle since about 1992. The wine was double decanted about five hours before services. An even brick red in color, very healthy looking. The wine was still very hot with alcohol, so it clearly needs at least eight hours of decanting time, quite amazing for a near 50-year-old port. The flavors were mostly tart cherries and plums, but more couldn't be determined due to the alcohol heat. The wine was medium sweet, with no dryness on the finish, really quite nice for pairing with cheese. The wine is fully mature but not close to declining at this point, so it should provide at least another 20 years of quality drinking. (95 pts.)
