Labeled as bottled in 2005, unfiltered.

Double decanted and immediately tasted. Dark purple with flavors of sweet prunes and black cherries. No real heat from the alcohol. The palate was medium sweet in a decididly dry style, but with good acidity. A bit simple but with decent flavor. Selling for $27 a bottle, which I think is too expensive for this wine. I can also get the 2006 and 2007 Dow's LBV for $10 less a bottle, with the Dow providing a little more pleasure. Rating: 85.

Which vintage of the Dow's do you prefer between the two?

I've had the 2004 and 2005, but haven't tried the 2006 and 2007 even though those are currently offered at my local Sam's club. I prefer the 2005 over the 2004, but still need to taste the 06 and 07. The Sam's Club here always has the Dow LBV at a little over $16.

We seem to have two Dow LBVs in the UK market - "Master Blend" LBV (which looks like it is filtered) and an unfiltered LBV. Surprisingly, I have to say i actually prefer the Master Blend (filtered?).
