I carried two bottles of Brunheda 40 yr old tawny bottled 2011 from the 2011 FTLOP Harvest Tour.
Very nice old tawny, and I gave it 94 pts. Posted tasting May 2012.

From the 2012 FTLOP Harvest Tour I carried six bottles of Brunheda 40 years old tawny, but this time bottled in 2012. There is a significant difference between the two bottlings, which is why I am posting also a tasting note for the 2012-bottling.

Decanted 3 hrs. Very clear transparent colour. Pleasant, well-balanced aroma of flowers, apricot, figs, wood, all with a sweetish type of overtone. Full body. Smooth, superelegant, taste of figs, something woody, some minerals, nice noticeable tannins, in total a bit sweetish in style with a looooong aftertaste. Still the best 40 years old tawny I have tasted. Three points better than the 2011-bottling. 97 pts.

Wow!

Coming from you that is a truely exceptional score! I have only tasted this once, from a 2011 bottling, and in conclusion I said: "Score: 94 points. I have a strange feeling that this could be better from a different bottle, but this bottle wasn't quite up to the level of my top 3." Sounds like I need to try a 2012 bottling!

Glenn, you are in luck, while on the PHT, I also scored a six pack, although one was broken by UK Customs and another was shared with friends in London.

It may be of interest that the above tasting note was based on two bottles giving the same impression. Consumed in two separate occassions with a month apart.

Roy, I'm curious; when this occurs, are you compensated for the broken bottle?

Steve: NO. But don't get me started.

I forgot to mention, I opened another bottle at Thanksgiving @ my brother Mitch's home, and the TN will be in the upcoming newsletter.
