1908 Cockburn Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 1 hour - Burnt orange colour with a green toned rim; 40% opaque. Initially slightly smelly on the nose with a touch of bottle stink (which 20 minutes in the glass allows to develop into scents of pine and rosemary) but underneath is a lovely butterscotch and seville orange marmalade. Very enticing. Sweet burnt sugar on the initial impact, immediately followed by huge levels of concentrated orange that swamp the palate with its strong acidic core. This has a lovely thick texture and a huge palate. Huge mouthwatering aftertaste, brimful of bitter orange marmalade. Wonderful port, mature and fabulous. 96 points
