1994 Dow Vintage Port

Decant: 1 hour - A bottle bought from the Winter 2012 Davy's list.
Deep red in colour, with a solid rim. Lively and youthful nose, which I described as harsh and aggressive blackcurrant but which NN accurately captured as the smell you get when you open a new bag of rubber bands. Smooth entry, modest body with a great structure; plenty of fruit, tannin and acidity - very nice balance. The fruit is very generous, with very dry tannins and this dryness dominating over the ripe fruit. Closed, but showing great potential. Big fruit finish, long and lingering, full of dry blackcurrant. Not great for drinking now (on which the score has been based) but a great port for the future. 83 points
