Why is domestic wine consumption falling in France?

I'd love to hear your views on this. Beyond what's mentioned, what are your thoughts as to the causation?

Could be the continually increasing population of Muslim's in France who don't drink alcohol?

The car and drunk-driving laws. Needing a car to get around, and not being able to risk getting caught with even very small amounts of alcohol in the blood seriously reduces the amount of time in any given week when it is safe to drink wine.

Noticed in France (and specifically about wine) where wine drinking is iconic, but I bet something similar is happening with all drinking in many countries.

I know that my wine drinking (indeed all drinking) has reduced in the wake of intense DUI enforcement (never had one myself, but have been very lucky) and will probably further reduce. I also drive less (rarely go out to drink) to have more drinking time available. This has seriously cut my spending in bars and restaurants. I assume other people are doing similar things, as bars and restaurants seem to be struggling.
