Broadbent Selections, San Francisco
1st night:
Dark garnet color all the way to the rim. Nose has alot of gnarly briar, with hint of mustard powder and a meaty/savory note. Cherry and minerals on the palate. Superb concentration and very good integration of spirit on this Crasto LBV. Seems less sweet with a drier style along the lines of an Infantado.
2nd night:
Detecting some mustard powder and aquarium on the nose. Palate has a significant dark side, I want to say dark cherry skins and bitter cherry pit. There is a seamless mouthfeel and lasting finish to this LBV that is quite satisfying.
3rd night:
This has settled down easy, with sheer complexity on the nose. A tooth-staining LBV with incredible concentration - a hallmark of the vintage. Good grip on the finish lets you know the pedigree.
If things get better with this over the Final Four weekend, I will add another note.
