1983 Kopke Colheita Port

Tasted blind in a lineup of 1983 Vintage Ports. Lightest color out of ten 1983s, this was a ringer; orange-amber and clear. Sweet aromas of almond with some alcohol warmth, along with some smoke and caramel. Sweet in the mouth with some acid, no real tannins. Later there was a slight cognac aroma. Not as developed as you would hope for a tawny, and way be beyond 1983 for a VP. 90 points, as a tawny. (20 Apr 13)
