2011 Romaneira Vintage Port

Actually the color is not opque. It’s not light, but a bit lighter than the other vintage ports in the room. Roasted cherry nose that is very subtle and pure. Medium bodied with grippy tannins. Overtly sweet. This struck me a bit of a stylistic change from the previous years’ style. I have this pegged as a medium term ager, one that will drink well after 8-12 years. I will say that my experience with Romaneira is that it changes dramatically after 7-9 years in the bottle. The 2004 and 2007 are fabulous right now and I have given them a higher score recently than I did on release. If the 2011 faollows those wines, I expect that my score here is on the low side – thus the + in the score. 89–91+ points
