2011 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port

Post by David Spriggs »

Extremely dark color. Let’s just call it Opaque. Really looks extracted. Intense olallieberry fruit. Real depth and intensity. Excellent acidity keeps things fresh. Complex already. Very Very balanced. Super long finish. 94-96 points

It's a common berry grown here in Santa Cruz County. It a cross between a loganberry and a youngberry. It tastes similar to a blackberry with some raspberry thrown in.

I once saw a chart that showed all the "berries" and what was crossed with what to make this or that. I can't find it now, but this is a decent list with some explanation: http://www.foodsubs.com/Fruitber.html
