From half bottle. Deep grimson ruby color, nose of spices, old wood, cocoa, and layers of ripe cherry/plum/cassis fruit profile. Quite expressive, a hint of alcool that seems to integrate well over time. Ripe and smooth on the entry, lots of fruit and cocoa, semi-sweet style for a VP, but not as dry as Dow's, medium bodied, finely grained tannins of great texture, short finish mainly on fruit and cocoa. Overall this is very enjoyable, balanced and pure as a VP should be, it is only missing the grip/extraction and depth of the great ones. Drink over the next 10-15 years. 16.5/20
