1994 Taylor Vintage Port

Post by Miguel Simoes »

Opened 3 bottles for a toast on my son's 1st birthday party. Decanted it 16 hrs ahead of pouring it back into the original bottles, glasses were poured 4 hrs afterwards.

Was able to taste berries right after decanting, a first for me.

Even though full bodied, expected it to be more lush than I found it. Was dense and opaque but expected denser.

Felt like an undefined teenager, not quite an adult yet w developed complexity, nor a youngster pure in brute force.

Felt significantly younger than the 94 Dow and Graham. Perhaps a sign of greater room to grow?

Rating it for how I tasted it, not for its future potential. Given where others have rated it, it should have plenty! If I had other bottles, would definitely hold off on opening them. Perhaps half-bottles would be a better bet at this point.
