1963 Dows Vintage Port

Decanted 8 hours; while no leakage, the cork was sodden and broke apart. Upon decanting it was very light--faint pink but after 8 hours color was restored to a darker hue--it was always a little cloudy. Cloudy burnt orange core with honey colored sub-rim and clear rim. Nose offers cherry and sweet raisins. The taste is curious--hard to identify flavors. Slightly sweet to start, a touch of honey or butterscotch which disappears quickly…long finish that linger into citrus on the grapefruit side. Still a little tannic. While hard to identify flavors, it was very pleasurable.

The spirit is very smooth on this vintage; like no heat at all from the one I had last week.

Tasted one a week ago today. Loved it, although not a perfect bottle ... my 2nd since June, it was a fan favorite at the tasting last weekend, in a jury of its peers. :scholar:
