1995 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port
On opening: Colour deep dark red nearly to the rim, with no real attenuation. Noticeable glycerine tears. Sustained spice on the nose, overlaid with dark woody fruit. Rich, full flavoured wine on the palate. Markedly acidic, with tannic grip. Day 2: Significantly more composed on nose and palate. Sustained complex fruit on the nose, tantalising. Lovely core of smooth dark, sweet, ripe fruit on the palate. Mouth tingling acidity and tannic grip on the finish. This is quite a considerable port. This has the size and weight to suggest the possibility of further development. Fine quality. Rather like a burly Vesuvio. Drinking now, but no rush. 93.

Nice to see a current tasting note on this. It was one of the first Vintage Ports that I bought and have been saving it for my 20th wedding anniversary. Thanks!

Thanks for the tasting note! For current, everyday drinking this has been a favorite of mine for quite a few years. I'm glad it showed well for you!
