Decanted 17 Hours (longer than intended). Clear Maroon pinkish meniscus, depth in the center. Nose offers a spice white pepper on a tart berry. Taste is increbily smooth throughout, distinct flavors of white pepper, leatherish, a semi-tart berry and a finish that has a chocolate quality. Moderate viscosity. Extended finish that is always pleasant; nice little layers of flavor. For a Grahams just a little dry. (Did taste a little upon decanting and was nice from the get go--but better after 17 hours).
This bottle looked awful from the outside (purchased recently and described thusly); corroded capsule, stained and spotted label. Being concerned I tonged the bottle--turns out the cork was is ideal shape for 30 years of age. From the moment opened the wine was great (could not resist a little upon opening).
41 Hours: Color is maroon and clear. The pepper and chocolate qualities are gone---extremely mellow now with a pleasing semi-sweet berry and light spice quality. It lingers a while.

Re: 1983 Grahams Vintage Port
Very spot on note for this VP
Yes, I've also noticed this one does show just a touch drier on the palate than other vintages. A very good vintage for them.
