1962 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port

Kept the decant short on this which turned out to be a good decision.
The colour was a brick red on decant. After an hour, it smelt of sweet spice and there was a little bit of heat on the nose.
It was dense and viscous, and the sweet spice was there on the palate along with some rosewater. Ever so slightly hot, but it wasn't a distraction.
It probably showed best around 2-3 hours after decant, but didn't fall apart after that.
On the second day, it had lost a bit of punch but there was still a delicate spice on the nose and palate. It was still nice drinking but had lost a bit of complexity

Thanks for the note! Can't say I hear about '62s all that often.

It was a first for me and I wasn't too sure what to expect. I still have another bottle

I must say that this '62 Guimaraens sounds like it was better than a '78 that I had not too long ago. Nice going.

Mahmoud.
