Nice! And at 1/4 the price of a NN31 I'd say they're pretty reasonable, too.

I too would have expected the minimum bid to be quite a bit higher. Over the course of the auction I'd expect that it will be bid up quite significantly from its relatively low starting price.

This is a heck of a nice Port and if in great condition, the price is almost a moot point.

$9,188, with the buyer's premium of 22.5%; thus $7,500 before the premium, the top of their estimate range.

Ouch! £2,000 per bottle. That's giving up a lot of other very good port to have those.

ASSESSMENT NOTES / ESTIMATE
ESTIMATE: $1,600 - $2,400
1 Quinta do Noval 1931 750ml Douro top shoulder, lightly wrinkled International Wine Merchants shipper label, torn capsule partially revealing cork, signs of old seepage "Sweet red berry fruit with anise, exotic caramelized sugar and treacle balanced by striking acidity and mild tannins that were noticeable, yet resolved. This provided an absolutely marvelous and persistent aftertaste...97." RH 2/04.
