1955 Cockburn Vintage Port

Decant: Not Known - UK bottled by Newcastle Breweries. Deep red centre, burnt orange rim; 50% opaque. Rather closed on the nose initially, but does show a lovely subdued fruitiness that is slightly dirty. Lovely thick texture, deep and powerful palate with concentrated bitter-sweet orange and hints of burnt toffee. Great palate. Big aftertaste, then a massive burst of flavour on the finish, but sadly the finish fades off very quickly. Very enjoyable, but less impressive than the 1947 drunk alongside. 91 points
