1950 Croft Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 6½ hours - Amber in colour and perhaps 20% opaque, looking like a 20 year old tawny. Slightly spirity on the nose, but pleasantly perfumed. Gentle entry with lots of searing acidity that supports gentle brown sugar and apricot flavours. There is a lovely creaminess to the texture. There is a hot aftertaste, then a very long - very, very long - finish of grapefruit and brown sugar. Much better than the appearance would have suggested. Served blind I guessed this to be a Taylor 1960. 85 points
