1922 Martinez Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 8 hours - Bottled by Belcher and Hapgood of Abingdon. Good cork, well branded. From the same parcel as the previous bottle.

Reddish tawny in colour, 25% opaque. A well developed nose full of roses and Turkish Delight that lifts out of the glass and invites further sniffing. Lovely balanced entry, with a silky texture and candied fruit. More fruit comes through on the mid-palate with raspberry jelly, a golden sultana sweetness and a lively nutmeg spiciness. There is a great burst of flavour on the aftertaste, before a quick fade to a modest level before the long burnt raising finish settles in and stays for a while. Very pleasant and enjoyable. 92 points
