2003 Taylor LBV Port

Decant: 4 hours - Filtered style LBV. Deep red colour, opaque centre, red rim. Slightly harsh nose, astringent menthol dominating. Medium to light bodied entry, lots of dry tannins and modest levels of fruit. This is unbalanced on the palate - perhaps it is shutting down. There is some ripe cherry late on the palate, but this requires considerable patience to find. Hot on the aftertaste, burning the back of the throat, then a warming sensation on the gullet before the tannins dominate the dry cocoa and red cherry finish. Acceptable, but not showing well. 82 points
