2007 Vesuvio Capela Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: Pop 'n' Pour - Deep red, opaque centre, very youthful red with a narrow rim. Lovely and fragrant on the nose, full of fruit and lavender. Soft texture; very fragrant palate which is full of ripe purple fruit - lots of blackberry. Very fine with considerable sweetness to it. Soft tannisn lurk in the background and balance which comes from the citrus flavoured acidity. Floral flavours on the aftertaste, a big finish with a massive wave of sweet fruit that lasts a avery long time - but could this be lacking the tannin and power needed to be a long-lived port? Served blind this was guessed to be a Sandeman Vau 2009. This was bottle number 2697. 91 points
