1994 Graham Vintage Port -- (375ml)

Post by Robert O. »

My "second" official VP, although I had tried this port once at restaurant. Not sure if they had just opened it, if it was even a real VP or what, but I literally had a dream about it and it is what got me really interested in vintage ports.

So, was really eager to try this under ideal circumstances and to compare to the 1983 Graham I had this weekend...

4.5 hours -- Dark purple color, alcohol on nose. Rich and fruity, hot finish. But still really tasty...

21 hours -- color has deepened, with a ruby fringe. Alcohol becoming nciely integrated, long finish, but still a bit hot

34 hours -- taste of raisins, alcohol nicely integrated. Delicious!

I thoroughly enjoyed this port and it is interesting to see the differences from the '83. I think I understand what people mean by a "young" port though, and I will leave my 750ml to sit for a while. I can see myself buying quite a few more bottles of this for the future.

I think my next port will be a different house to do more comparing and contrasting!
