1977 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port

Post by Derek T. »

A bottle purchased recently from Tom Archer. The cork broke in half and then crumbled. A nice dark colour but the nose and initial taste were very hot and spicy.

No note taken so this part is from memory. Now showing some nice fruits and the heat had integrated well. A nice port but not the blockbuster I was expecting after reading others recent experiences.

+ 48 Hours
Now seems even darker than before. The mouthfeel is lighter and now slightly watery. What surprises me is that after 48 hours this wine has developed a tanic dryness that I did not detect previously. Is this a sign that it is still on an upward curve?

Score: 6-6
