10 Year Old Tawny port by Thorn-Clarke

Post by Alan Rath »

Not sure why I have this, guess I liked the looks of the bottle ;) Color is medium brown, like a grade A dark amber maple syrup. Nose is saturated with maple and brown sugar notes, which carry through on the palate with a big dose of sweet maple, bit of caramel, vanillia, even cinnamon on the long finish. While nicely made, this is fairly typical of young Australian tawnies: a lot of straight-up sugary-maple sweetness, but not much in the way of layered complexities or nuance. Call it 88 points, this would be great over a nice warm bread pudding :)

Cheers,
Alan
