For The Love Of Port

Deep ruby color with slight garnet rim. The first nose is showing smokey, dark chocolate and minerality. Upon swirl you get the classic Taylor bouquet with floral(lavander), licorice, jammy plums and cherries. The palate has a soft entry then build some power on mid-palate with great tannins grain, very compact still. The flavours of dark fruits, dark cherries and blackberries mainly mixed with the bitterness of dark chocolate and firm grip on the finish of very good lenght on those chocolate and peperry notes. 18.5+ points

Thanks Fred, I am so glad to see a TN on this. At the price of this Port in Canada today, I never suspected I would see it from you, but am glad as I think I am starting to get a handle on how your tastes, and my own, align.

I suspect I would not have the guts to open this myself if I owned one, but also am coming to understand that I very well may be that which Alan C fears the most - a crazy north american who drinks (and enjoys for that matter! ) their VP young.

But then, the Taylor VP experience has eluded me thusfar (due to price.)

Hey Todd, I did not expect me to open this bottle that early... We were in a late evening mood and my brother was asking for something sweet. Since I don't have many old bottles, I open the young ones.

About the price... I managed to get 2 bottles of this at 51$ Price tag error, god bless ya!

Yes, you certainly do have to love price tag errors. Even when you check with the clerk to see if the tag is correct and they confirm... (My 18 bottles of Offley 2003 VP earlier this year for $18Cdn each was my biggest score with such a price tag error. ) Just went back to that store last week... they brought in a few more cases... and they are still sitting on the shelf for $60/bottle.
