1985 Barros Vintage Port

From day 1 of the 1985 horizontal, 24-25 Jan 2015, Holiday Inn Issaquah. All Ports were tasted blind. Unless otherwise noted, Ports were decanted for ~4 hours the morning of the tasting. The ones that I decanted received ~8 hours of decant overnight and were then stoppered for another ~6 hours until the tasting.
1985 Barros Vintage Port
Color: Medium red/tawny. Clearly aging, though not yet aged.
Nose: Sweet apple (think red delicious), some caramel. Despite that, not a caramel apple.
Palate: Thin and week. Very light body and just lacking substance. Tastes prematurely aged - not like an old Port, but rather one that is old before its time. But it doesn't taste damaged or oxidized. It's fine to drink, just uninteresting.
Score: 83 points. As Linda put it: "Sell! Sell! Sell!"
