2000 Sandeman Vau Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Pop-n-pour. There was lots of fine sediment, so I double filtered through a paper towel (and the wine did not show a papery taste ). Dark ruby color with a hint of garnet at the rim. The first aromas were of dark fruit, crushed blackberry, cinnamon, and cocoa. A subdued spirit came on stronger and more medicinal with swirling. There is possibly a little vegetable flavor, along with some faint stewed prune. There is strawberry, perhaps macerated. This is really fruity sweet in the mouth, with only light tannins and acid. Not scored at the time, but as I recall, a very pleasant bottle very much worth the price paid of $20.
