1926 C. da Silva Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Light orange brown with a fair amount of haze. Sweet with a light dusty aroma, and some tawny character. There is some sawdust flavor with a hint of spirit, along with a little berry and possibly apricot. Fairly thin bodied at first, it also has a tangy sweet flavor of tangerine. The finish is also sweet. Later there was a candied apricot aroma, along with orange citrus flavor. The thin body initially lead me to score this 91 points, but I later bumped it to 92.

This was purchased at auction with another bottle similarly labeled. Both said "Fine Ruby Port" and "Vintage." The other bottle was a leaker and consumed first. This bottle appeared in better condition, but I think the first actually showed a little better.
