Garnet with good clarity, more brown-orange at the rim. The aroma shows some spirit and sweetness, and leather, but more dried than new; as well as toffee (salted?). In the mouth, this is think with stewed fruits, prunes, and possibly peaches. There is some warmth in the finish. This is good, but overall is more sweet than balanced, giving a lower score than the previously tasted 1948 Taylor and 1948 Fonseca. 92 points.
